I like seeing different teams in town. I sure they're excited for the wings and the free win as well. |

You look at those terrible, terrible teams of the past 40 years (Sabres 71-72, Washington 74-75, Nordiques 89-90, or the Sharks and Senators from 92-93) and you think to yourself that, on paper, we shouldn't be as bad as these teams.
I mean, really, should we?
We (had) a consistent 30 goal a year man in Vanek, and replaced him with another one in Moulson. A defense that, again on paper, shouldn't be as bad as it really is. A couple physical forwards that have shown glimpses of being scoring threats in the past (Ott, Foligno). Some young, energetic, hardworking kids who want nothing more than to stick in the NHL (Girgs, Larsson, Risto, big "Z", Flynn). A franshise goaltender and a very competent backup in Millsy and Ewok.
But, then when the puck drops, you see how bad they really are. Bad chemistry? Poor decision making? Poor hockey sense (Myers...sorry, SBroads, don't lynch me)?

This will easily be the worst season in Sabres history. The 71-72 team won 16 games but played only 78. If they have 66 losses or something near that, it will easily be the most losses ever in a season, smashing the record of 44 losses by the 86/87 Sabres. #suffering - mhp
Even worse....when ("if' for the pessimists out there) we're good again you just know the PR department is going to overplay started from the bottom.... (frank) Drake |

I agree with your post. I have lived through every season and imo the coaching is just terrible. Who knows what goes in the locker room or what is said on the bench but it seems like Rolston is a bit lost as an NHL coach. Their record should be better for the talent they have.

Agreed. No reason he isn't here. It's amazing that Sulzer gets called up or an 18 year old Zadarov (who is good) gets games before the guys who's been groomed for 4 years now - sbroads24
